Excel to CSV
Export any sheet of a workbook as a CSV file, with comma, semicolon or tab separators and correct special characters.
Your converted file will appear here.
Comma or semicolon?
Use commas for most apps and websites. Choose semicolons if your CSV will be opened in Excel on a computer set to a European language, where the comma is the decimal separator. Tabs are safest when your data itself contains lots of commas. The file is saved as UTF-8 with a marker that tells Excel to read special characters correctly.
How to use the Excel to CSV
- Choose your Excel workbook.
- Pick the sheet and the separator.
- Click Convert and download the CSV.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and converted by your own browser, so it never leaves your device. That makes it safe for customer lists, finances and other private data.
Can I export a sheet other than the first?
Yes. Every sheet in the workbook is listed; pick the one you need and export it.
What happens to formulas and formatting?
CSV only stores values, so formulas are exported as their results, and colours, fonts and merged cells are dropped.
