SERP Snippet Preview

Google truncates by pixel width, not character count — so this checks both. As a rule of thumb, keep titles under ~580px and descriptions under ~920px.

How the pixel check works

This tool estimates rendered width using Google's approximate desktop SERP font metrics (Arial, ~20px title / ~14px description). It's an estimate — Google's actual rendering can vary slightly by device and query — but it catches the common mistake of trusting a fixed character count.

How to use the SERP Snippet Preview

  1. Enter the page URL, title tag and meta description.
  2. Watch the preview and the pixel meters as you edit.
  3. Shorten anything over the limit so Google shows it in full.

Frequently asked questions

Why pixels instead of characters?

Google cuts titles by rendered width, not character count. Wide letters like “W” use more space than narrow ones like “i”.

Will Google always use my meta description?

No. Google often rewrites snippets to match the search. A clear, accurate description still gives it the best starting point.

Is the preview exact?

It is a close estimate based on Google’s desktop fonts. Mobile results and individual searches can differ slightly.
