Split Excel

Turn one workbook into several files: one file per sheet, or a large sheet broken into parts by rows.

—Rows
—Columns

Your converted file will appear here.

What gets copied

Each new file keeps the cell values from the original sheet, with the header row repeated when splitting by rows. Formulas are saved as their calculated values, and formatting such as colours and merged cells isn’t carried over, so the result is a clean data file that imports reliably.

How to use the Split Excel

  1. Choose or drag in your Excel workbook.
  2. Pick one file per sheet, or rows per file for a single sheet.
  3. Click Split workbook and download the .zip.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and converted by your own browser, so it never leaves your device. That makes it safe for customer lists, finances and other private data.

Which Excel formats are supported?

Modern .xlsx and .xlsm files, older .xls files and OpenDocument .ods spreadsheets. The split files are saved as .xlsx.

Are formulas kept?

Formulas are converted to their current values. That keeps each part self-contained, because formulas often refer to rows that end up in a different file.
